Celebrating Women's History Month

A celebration for Women's History Month took place at Terrance on the Park on March 11. The festivities were organized by Greater Queens of The Links, Inc. It was a dedication to Women in Gospel. The event included members who impact the life of NYC residents like Dr. Hazel E. Dukes, president of the NAACP New York State Conference. Attendees included York's very own Dr. Eanes, members of Student Government Association and New York State Senator Leroy Comrie.



NY1's very own Cheryl Wills, served as the Mistress of the celebration. Wills became the first ever African American Journalist to win an Emmy for NY1.


New York City Council member Nantasha Williams made a stop at York's table to take pictures with members of SGA. Williams, represents district 27, which includes Jamaica, Queens the home of York College.


Misty Copeland, the first African American to become a principal dancer at ABT (American Ballet theater), received an award for being an inspiration for young African Americans ballerinas.



The evening concluded in the hands of Grammy Winner Gospel singer, Yolanda Adams. She entertained the audience with singing, she also signed books for her fans.
